Former Chelsea and Brazil defender Alex has revealed that he will undergo bypass surgery to treat a blocked heart attack.

The ufabet club’s official Twitter account, Santos FC, @SantosFC , one of Alex ‘s former clubs, tweeted in a recent short video clip on Friday ( local ) showing that he is recuperating in an unspecified hospital.

” I’m here to deny reports of heart failure, ” the former defender said. 

“ I discovered a health problem a few days ago and the doctor decided I should have bypass surgery because I found four blockages in my heart. ” 

“ This just came out of the ICU. and will recuperate at the hospital for another 6 days . ” 

Currently 39 , Alex has retired from football for more than six seasons, having played for ‘ Sing the Blues ‘, PSV Eindhoven , Paris Saint – Germain and AC Milan.

“I came here to deny reports saying I had a heart attack. I found a (health) problem a few days ago, doctors decided to give me a bypass surgery. I had four blocked arteries,” said Alex. “I just left the intensive care unit, I will stay at the hospital for another six days.”

Alex won national club titles in Brazil, Netherlands, England and France. He also won the 2007 Copa America with the Brazilian national team and the 2012 Champions League with Chelsea.
